Service Manager / Lead Bike Mechanic – Buddy Pegs HQ

Help us get more kids on bikes! At Pedal Kids USA, we’re building the future of youth cycling education—helping kids develop confidence, resilience, and joy through the power of the bicycle. As part of this mission, our Buddy Pegs HQ Retail + Experience Center in Bentonville serves as the community hub where families can continue their cycling journey. Here, we don’t just sell bikes—we create a welcoming space where kids and adults alike can explore, learn, and connect. Our commitment is to ensure that everyone in our community—across all ages, backgrounds, and identities—feels seen, valued, and supported in discovering the joy of riding together.

We’re looking for a Service Manager / Lead Bike Mechanic to bring new bikes to life, keep old bikes rolling, mentor our mechanics, and deliver top-notch service experiences for families.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary mechanic and quality assurance lead for all service work.
Build bikes for retail sales, maintain our demo fleet, and complete customer service jobs.
Manage service scheduling, work orders, and customer communication to minimize wait times.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient service department and workbench area.
Order and manage service-related supplies, parts, and back stock.
Provide technical product knowledge to customers and staff to enhance their riding experience.
Train junior mechanics and retail staff on technical knowledge and bike basics.
Occasionally create and teach bike maintenance courses for community and Pedal Kids USA families.
Support the retail floor—helping families find the right bikes, parts, and accessories.
Qualifications

Experience: 3+ years professional bike mechanic experience (or equivalent).
Skills: Strong mechanical ability, detail-oriented, efficient, customer-service minded.
Traits: Independently motivated, emotionally intelligent, clear communicator, adaptable under pressure.
Bonus Points: Experience in youth programming, regional cycling community connections, or B2B/B2C sales.
Must be able to ride a bike and lift 35 lbs.

Compensation & Benefits

$45,000 – $60,000 a year – Full-time, Contract
Access to all Buddy Pegs tools, training, and leadership support
